What's your scrapping style?

I'm sitting here reading a Bo Bunny blog entry about their new Snowfall collection and I'm just thinking it's not me. I have it sitting in my Crop Chocolate shopping cart but I'm not going to get it. It's faded colors that have a vintage or distressed look.

That leads me to think what is my style? I like bold clear prints in neutral colors. I don't like shades that are too bright like Whooligans. I also don't like a very busy background page. I also don't like alot of pink or girly shades like Kissing Booth. I like simple and basic embellishments that don't draw attention away from the photos. I like streamlined multi-photo layouts where the focus is on the pictures not the artwork.

Here's some examples from my old layouts

TubTime

Sorting through some old files and found this layout I entered in a challenge at 52 sketches last year. It's so simple and Anthony is so adorable (he's going to kill me when he grows up). I'm going to have to try using this sketch again. Maybe with those sea lion pics I've been trying to scrap for 6 months.

Cats!!!

I confess I'm just not a cat person. I've tried but my nose just can't get along with them. That said though I love the layouts I just came across on Lexidh's Google+ page. The sketches are just wonderful and the cats are adorable. Go check her out.

In memory of a new angel

Over the last few years I've followed Paper Haven regularly. First for her amazing card designs and then for her battle against cancer. Katie Renz was a young woman about my age with three small boys. Yesterday her husband Kevin reported that she was finally able to end her fight and find peace at 5 am yesterday morning. My prayers go out to Kevin and her sons.

Made by Manda

Still cleaning house so I haven't done any crafting of my own. In sorting through my email though I came across Manda's blog and just wanted to give her a shout-out. I don't know about you but I struggle constantly trying to figure out what to do with scraps. She has some great ideas how to use those little edges or scraps that I would normally throw out. Since organizing my scraps is on my to-do list I'm definitely going to keep her projects in mind. Just love this layout of hers. Go check out her blog

Do you have any new ideas on what to do with scraps?

Hot Chocolate

Other than just the great prices one of my favorite parts of shopping at Crop Chocolate is the Hot Chocolate. Unpacked my last two orders today and here's what was in the hot chocolate.
When you check out from CropChocolate, there is the option to add an item called "Hot Chocolate". It's a grab bag for $2.49 and worth at least $5 (we've all decided it's typically more than that!)

Trying to Get Organized

Trying to mass organize and purge my scrapping supplies
Got the stickers finished today. Page kits and paper are next.
Right now with so many supplies its a bit overwhelming to find the time and space to scrap.
Hoping to find a new crop spot in the city.

What have I done that you've missed?

Not really much. With my injury I didn't do much this spring/summer. Hoping to change that now that fall's coming. Hoping to pick up some more jobs so if you're looking for bookmarks, cards, invites, etc then hit me up

Update on My Life

Nope I haven't gotten lost Just been a bit MIA. I took a bad fall at the end of March and since then have been off and on leave. I've been in a bit of pain and slightly loopy so haven't been too scrappy. I've done some small cards, cuts and paper piecing that I'll post in the next couple days.
I'm also doing a purge of both craft items and books to a) make space and b) to try to supplement some of the income loss.
Check out my ebay and etsy at http://myworld.ebay.com/galaxy1979/ and http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6954824 to see some of the items I have for sale. The scrappy items that are not posted in the next day from the list below will then be added to ebay.

Just thought I'd ask you first and see if I can save myself the hassle of ebay. Trying to make enough so that I can supplement the loss in pay and still do a couple fun things I had planned. Unless it says otherwise the items are brand new. Shipping is based on zip code. I cant get to the regular PO right now so sorry but I can't do international shipping. Let me know if you need a photo. I've tried to find links to items since I cant attach photos here.
Check out my ebay site for other non-scrappy items

Valentine's Day Letdown

I didn't sell a single card this Valentine's Day and I have no clue why. I'm open to suggestions on how to improve my etsy shop so go take a look here and honestly tell me what you think. What would sell? What cards do you think I should make next? What style?

At least most of my Valentines Day cards were actually love cards so that means I can pass them on to Operation Write Home to be used by soldiers in Iraq and Afganistan. Hoping to stamp them and send them on their way today.

PS My followers are growing so expect a surprise drawing of a variety of paper, stickers, embellishments and more once I hit 50. So invite folks to come follow me

Craft it Forward

I saw this on The Crooked Stamper and decided to give it a try.

I promise to make a handcrafted item in
2011 & mail to the FIRST 5 people who comment that they would like to join in, only asking in return that you post this on your blog and offer 5 people something you make by hand and mail to them this year.

Sounds easy enough. The bestest part is I get THE WHOLE YEAR to make something. That's, like, forever, right? In my world it is. You watch, it will be Dec 30th and I'll be scrambling. :/

So if you'd like to play, just comment and let me know!

Scrap Your Stash

I'm a few days late but I've done horribly in Jan. I organized my Valentines/Love Stash and made some cards for my etsy but regrettfully none have sold. I'm thinking towards Spring/St Patricks Day next. But I also brought a kit I wanted to finish up my SF layout project then realized just how much travel goodies I have. Putting it all together in one organizer and hoping to use it for all of my mini trips too. Entered a leftovers swap and looking forward to paring down especially my Christmas and VD goodies. I didn't do any layouts for Jan but hoping for at least 4 for Feburary starting with my annual solo Superbowl challenges. So, if you know of any good travel layout challenges this week or love/heart/Vday card challenges for this week?

I need a second opinion

What do you think of the flower on the upper left side? Is it too much or should it stay?

Baby Boy

A Humorous Take on Valentine's Day

Take My Heart Don't Set It Free

I got this fun die-cut poem from a swap and I knew I had to use it for a card. The pattern paper has a sticthed design and then I used a needle and some fiber to give the die-cut also a stitched feel as well. The background paper is DCWV. I don't remember who the accent is piece is by.

Love with Kisses

When I saw the DCWV Rockstar mat stack this sheet just said Valentine's Day to me. It took me forever to find embellishments that worked with it without overpowering it. I chose a contrasting light pink in two different shades for a Cricut die-cut and a glittered flower from K & Co.
All of this is put together on a scalloped A2 cardstock base.

This card meets the Paper Variety pink and black challenge.

Home is Where the Heart Is

I combined a couple of sketches and came up with this fun card. The background is made from a lightweight paper with cuttlebug embossing.

This card made the requirements for The House that Stamps Built and Get Sketchy

Look for this card in my etsy site tomorrow

Lots of Hearts

Friday night I went to a crop determined to begin scrapping Valentine's Day cards for my etsy store. With a case full of diecuts, stickers, cardstock, ribbon, patterned paper, rub-ons and a variety of embellishments I went to work. Over the next few days watch as I how you what I created. Majority of them will be available for sale in my etsy store but if you want something special e-mail me for a personalized creation.

Glitterbabes put out a cute sketch this week

Here's my twist on it (note the glittered paper used on the patterned strip)

This card also meets the Pollycraft "New Things" challenge. The stickers are new from a package that I FINALLY opened from last Valentine's Day.

As well as Lexi's Creation's "Say It with Love" Challenge and the Top Tip Tuesday "Anything Goes" challenge

I honestly don't remember who made the patterned papers but the sticker is S.E.I. (I think). The die-cut hearts are all cut from Cricut with the George cartridge.
